Great tips shared Jane!! I have seen many people who hesitate in making a social network they are very restricted in their are of interest. I think they should be give more opportunities to explore.

Hey Steven,

My friend, who's very involved in social media, would completely agree with you about the listening first before adding your own thoughts.

btw, I see you're out on Twitter. One of the strategies my friend uses at networking events that I didn't mention is to meet up in person with people she's been connecting with on Twitter. Another way to "know" somebody in the room to start with.

Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts,

Jane

Hi Jane, this is a great post and very useful. I have never ever been to a networking event, but I realise I am going to have to go to grow a business practice. Your friend has given some sage advice and I think networking of any kind is all about listening to others as in social media - listen to the conversation first before adding your own thoughts.
